About this destination
The Amalfi Coast is a long stretch of dramatic cliffs where villages cling to the rock and every terrace seems to have a view. Positano stacks its pastel houses down to the beach, Ravello sits calmly above the crowds, and Amalfi itself keeps a working harbour and a cathedral worth a slow visit.
The pace here is deliberately gentle. Mornings might mean a private boat to a quiet cove, afternoons a lemon grove tour followed by a long lunch, and evenings a table on a terrace as the light turns gold. We choose small hotels with character over large ones with queues.
Shoulder months in late spring and early autumn are our favourite, with warm water and fewer visitors. We handle transfers and timings carefully, because the coast road is beautiful but best travelled by someone who knows it.
